My book list 2012

I’m going to keep a list of all the books I’ve read this year. So from January 2012 here’s my list:

Crimson China by Betsy Tobin
Thought-provoking cockle-picking drama.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
A proper old-fashioned page-turning, tear-jerker story.

A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
Re-read as have been asked to come to my sister-in-law’s book group as an honourary member to talk about the goons. We are planning to listen to the playlist. Should be fun!

Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman
Re-read bits for my book group. I appreciated the brilliance of the characters and the voice even more on second reading. Pity about the pigeon though.

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald

Pure by Andrew Miller
Full of the sights and smells of 18th century Paris. A great read.

Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell
Amazing gritty read about the underbelly of Paris and London.

  1. Great list so far Tara – def going to check out Pigeon English and Crimson China.

I’ve just read Into The Darkest Corner which was a very harrowing psychological/stalker drama, and am now on Margaret Atwood’s Cats Eye – haven’t read Margaret Atwood for a long time, and after a bit of a battle to get into it, am off to a flyer. Her style is a bit dense, but have adjusted now!

Really excited about your new blog – will be great to get some top reading recommendations 🙂

    • I totally agree about Margaret Atwood. You have to really give it a go before you get into them which is hard if you’re like me and read late at night in bed when it’s far more tempting to snooze than challenge yourself! Thanks for lovely blog feedback too. Xx
